The Purchase of the Land

In July 2025, Dina called me to tell me about a block of land that she had found that was for sale. It was approximately 10 minutes from the Lalitpur library but further up the hill which was a good thing because the current library had experienced a few floods over the years. It was similar to the Benapa library in that it was perched on a hill, with views over the city and close to a primary school. While there were a few challenges in purchasing the land it is now ours with the titles to prove it.

Dina and I have a dream to build a library from scratch. We envisage a large library space, a staff room for teachers and volunteers to prepare materials, a kitchen to prepare nutritious meals, and a few smaller rooms for older children to study in. It would be set in a garden with vegetable patches and fruit trees as well as a play area for the children. We intend to build a second floor which would have a large meeting space for regular church services and gatherings as well as a small unit on the block to house Dina’s parents.
